Fall 2009 TBNATS Workshop, Chapter Meeting and Luncheon, special guest presenter Kathleen Wilson, "Spanish-language Repertoire"
took place October 10 2009, 11:30am-4:00pm at Southeastern University in Lakeland FL.
This event included a Chapter Meeting/Luncheon followed by a Workshop and Masterclass on Spanish-language Song, with invited presenter Kathleen Wilson. The 11:45-12:45 Meeting and Luncheon was open to all current Tampa Bay NATS members; the 1-4pm Presentation and Masterclass were open to the Public. Both events were sponsored by Tampa Bay NATS and Southeastern University; special thanks to Prof. Edward Bryant and Dr. Shudong Braamse for serving as local hosts! And most appreciative thanks as well to Southeastern University for providing the luncheon for chapter members, technical support during the event, and a warm welcome to all attendees.

Kathleen Wilson, soprano, holds a doctorate in vocal pedagogy from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has performed and given master classes in the US and throughout Latin America and was a Fulbright Scholar in Venezuela. She served as the NATS New England Regional Governor and as editor of The Journal of Singing,and was the recipient of the Voice Foundation’s Van L. Lawrence Fellowship. She is also the author of The Art Song in Latin America, published by Pendragon Press (1998), and a CD titled Elán, published by North/South Consonance records. Dr. Wilson currently serves on faculty at Florida International University. For this workshop, Kathleen addressed Spanish-language diction and repertoire.
A Call for Singers resulted in the following performers selected for the masterclass: Kimberly Milton, Whitney Reshard, Scott Tripp, and Carlos Santiago. Thanks to all who applied!


Spring 2009 TBNATS Business Meeting and Luncheon
This event took place Saturday April 4, 2009, 12:30pm, at The Toasted Pheasant Bistro (http://toastedpheasant.com/) in Carrollwood (a Tampa suburb), hosted by Sonia Leonavicius. Planning for upcoming events was the focus of this important meeting, which all members were urged to attend. Items for inclusion on the agenda were due by March 25, 2009; RSVP was requested by March 31.

Spring 2009 TBNATS Musicale
The Chapter Musicale was held April 5, 2009, 7:30pm at The University of South Florida, and was open to the public.
Thanks to all who participated or supported this event, to the faculty and staff at USF for their assistance, and to Sandra Rogers and Joyce Liu for their many hours of work on the Musicale Committee.

2009 SERNATS Regional Student Auditions
The Southeastern Region's Student Auditions took place Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, 2009 at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. Congratulations to Emily Barnash, student of Mary K. Wilson, who received a First Place Award in Regional Category 3!
